Meet our ‘Farmers Across Borders’ Founders

Sam Starcevich and Anne Bell are farmer’s from the Esperance region of WA.¬†Farmers Across Borders was born in 2014 when they decided to help drought-stricken farmers in NSW after a bumper season of their own. They organized 16 roadtrains of donated hay from fellow WA farmers to be delivered to Bourke & Lightning Ridge in NSW in conjunction with Burrumbuttock Hay Runners. The 2014 hay run was the start of life long friendships built on a common theme of wanting to help fellow farmers in need. All involved said they would put their hand up again if needed.

A call was made in 2018 and so plans were started to do it again.

Anne has been married & farming with Paul for 28 years on the coast at Jerdacuttup. Their farming enterprise is mainly cattle with a bit of cropping.
They have 2 sons, one of which has just returned to the farm.
Anne & Paul have always been involved in the community in one way or another, from the P&C, Community Association and local Fire Brigade. Anne was originally from the Perth, marring into a farming family – which has been character building. The best thing, second to marring Paul 28 years ago, was doing their first hay run in 2014 – making mates along the way that are sure to last a lifetime!
