From Fraser Range to Mundrabilla: Day One Done
Friday 25 July, 2025
After a slight weather delay, the convoy rolled out of Fraser Range Station a few hours behind schedule but full of determination, fuel, feed, and heart.
The wind may have howled, but our spirits stayed strong.
Thanks to everyone for your patience and support while we waited for the all-clear. These decisions aren’t made lightly, and safety always comes first.
Behind the Scenes Support
A huge thank you to Andy, Ben, and the entire crew at Fraser Range Station for your outstanding hospitality. Hosting over 130 people is no small task, but you welcomed us like old friends just popping in for a cuppa. Your generosity and warmth set the tone for this entire journey, and we’re so grateful.
Hats off to Main Roads Western Australia – your support has been nothing short of incredible. From coordinating with WA Police, DFES, RFDS, and St John Ambulance, to securing permits and keeping road users informed, your behind-the-scenes work made a huge difference. And when those 100km/h winds rolled in? You were right there again, helping us make safe, informed calls and keeping the convoy moving when it was safe to do so.
Convoy in Formation
Getting 86 trucks into order took a bit of patience, but by the time we hit the 90 Mile Straight, it was smooth sailing.
Lunch Stops
Now, as you can imagine, parking 86 trucks in one spot isn’t exactly easy. So, we split up:
- Groups 1 & 3 pulled in at Cocklebiddy Roadhouse
- Groups 2 & 4 stopped at Caiguna Roadhouse
A warm lunch, a stretch of the legs, and a few laughs with the incredible teams at both roadhouses gave us the boost we needed.
Night One at Mundi
We rolled into Mundrabilla Roadhouse just in time for dinner. A delicious hot meal was enjoyed as stories from the day were shared around the fire – a bit later than planned, but no less meaningful.
After a big first day on the road, it was the perfect way to wind down: full bellies, good company, and a reminder of why we do what we do.
We’re now well on our way to South Australia — and there’s plenty more to come.
Stay tuned, share the journey, and thank you for riding with us.
